Monday 01/19/2009

This morning I went thru my normal routine. Brush the new snow (about 2 inches) off the car and walk benny. It was cold again this morning (11 degrees). The good news was that the hotel offered a breakfast. This saved us time and saved me a few dollars.

We started out about 9am. There were a few more cars on the road but we are able to average about 65 miles an hour. After leaving Iowa, we entered Nebraska and found a very strange thing happening. It was getting warmer. The temperature was rising and at 1pm it was 53 degrees.

The snow cover was non-existent and the wind was blowing about 40-50 miles an hour. Alot of tumbleweed was blowing around. Common in the midwest.

We arrived at our stop tonight around 4:30pm. Today we travelled 7 1/2 hours and covered 460 miles. Tonights stop is at the Days Inn in Ogallala Nebraska

So we have about 4 1/2 hours left - approx. 270 miles. We are really getting excited.
